It's hard to find this classic music anywhere and it's really hit home with those who have seen the show. The memories bring laughter, tears and joy. The Louisiana Hayride was a live radio show, broadcast over KWKH Radio in Shreveport, Louisiana and ran successfully from 1948 to 1960. It was instrumental in establishing the careers of such artists as Hank Williams, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash and because of that, earned the nickname 'The Cradle of the Stars'. The list of artists who performed at the Hayride is impressive and in addition to Williams, Presley and Cash, also featured Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison and many others. This live music extravaganza written and produced by Lori Risling and performed with live singers and band, re-creates the ambiance of those early days. The show features over 25 songs made famous by such artists as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jim Reeves, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ferlin Husky, Patsy Cline, Don Gibson, Ernest Tubb and more. The Louisiana Hayride cast consists of an incredibly talented group of musicians. William Brookfield, on double keyboard, guitar, banjo and vocals is a composer and producer and toured as pianist for Long John Baldry. Gil Risling, on electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar and vocals has been a musician most of his life and won a scholarship to the Banff School of Fine Arts where he studied voice training under the world-renowned Dr. Ernesto Vinci of the Royal Conservatory and Paul Schoffler of the Vienna State Opera Company. Mike Melnichuk on stand-up double bass, electric guitar and vocals has been touring Canada and the U.S. for years, making music from about the time the Louisiana Hayride started! Andrea Anderson, with her uncanny vocal resemblance to Patsy Cline was the National Anthem singer for the Phoenix Coyotes, Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs. Once back in Canada, she won the 2004 Okanagan Idol contest and has performed at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival. Patrick Ryley, the EZRock Morning Host and Assistant Program Director toured across Canada for three decades, singing, dancing and acting. With his striking resemblance to Hank Williams, he has quickly become a crowd favorite. Adam Fitzpatrick, the new young Elvis Won the World Elvis Amateur Division in 2008. He performed in Vancouver at the PNE's Elvis Tribute and has toured many places around British Columbia. He looks, sings and acts like the young Elvis of the 50's 60's. If you loved Elvis you will love Adam. Lori Risling wrote a syndicated country music column for 10 years and has interviewed countless country music artists including Shania Twain, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam and Johnny Cash. The Louisiana Hayride will delight you from start to finish as you go back in history with the cast of the show and relive Hank Williams' early years and learn about Elvis' frustration at being a rejected 19 year old singer.
